So, as some of you saw, I did some damage to the Durango a couple nights ago. She looked pretty bad. Still does, but not as bad.

This is her now.

Note the headlight being out of sorts, busted fender and cracked grille. When I was stuck against the tree, I slid back, popping the light into the grille, cracking it, and rubbed the fender, denting it. I popped the light back in place best as I could. I can replace all the damage myself for under $200 easily, maybe even under $150. It's still perfectly drivable. The damage was purely cosmetic which is good. These things are as reliable as a son of a bitch, and they can take a beating.

Just for comparison, here's what it looked like before popping the light back in. ( which still works!)

Time to give it a lift, a grille guard, and spotlights. Then it will look like off-roading damage.

Haha. It technically IS offroad damage. It was in my driveway which is twisty and full of ditches.

I've wanted a big grille guard for some time. Maybe it's a sign I need it now.

I've got a buddy that commutes every other day from Baltimore to Philadelphia in (I think) a 2002 Durango. The things got about 340,000 and consumes a quart of oil a week, but it runs strong.

Good cars...

Yeah, they do guzzle oil like nobody's business, but 340k? Damn. I'm approaching 150k on mine, and it's a 2000. We've put about 18k on it since we bought it this past February. It's been relatively trouble free and never stranded us.

Yeah, he's not a car guy and never knew 340,000 was that high up. I think he may have just replaced it with a 2003ish Jetta TDI Wagon.
